Editorial policy

Last updated 30 August 2026. This page is the rulebook for what we publish. If a piece on the site conflicts with it, this page wins until we fix the piece.

Independence

Writers and the science editor decide what ships. Advertisers do not get a draft, a veto, or a secret edit.

Evidence

Human data outranks mouse data. A trial outranks a tweet. We name the paper when we lean on it. If the only evidence is an n=8 conference poster, we say so or we cut the claim. "Optimal" is a marketing word; we prefer ranges and tradeoffs.

What we are not

We are not a doctor-patient relationship. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prescription, or a reason to ignore the person who actually has your chart. If you have a condition, you run protocols past a clinician who can be sued, which we cannot.

Experience on the page

First-person notes (what a writer measured, what failed in a given week) are labeled as such. They are not a study. They exist so the protocol is not a press release.

Corrections

Factual errors get a dated note on the article. Email editorial@menshealthinstitute.org with the URL, the line, and the source you think we missed. We do not "update" a wrong number in silence.

Conflicts

Staff do not take unpublished product samples in exchange for coverage. If a writer has a financial stake in a brand named in a piece, the piece says so or it does not run.
